Summary

After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson is finding his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet. His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson, a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere, making it hard for Percy to have any normal friends. But things don't stay quiet for long.

Percy soon discovers there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: the magical borders that protect Half-Blood Hill have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and the only safe haven for demigods is on the verge of being overrun by mythological monsters. To save the camp, Percy needs the help of his best friend, Grover, who has been taken prisoner on an island somewhere in the Sea of Monsters, the dangerous waters Greek heroes have sailed for millennia. Only today, the Sea of Monsters goes by a new name: The Bermuda Triangle.

Together with his friends, Percy must retrieve the Golden Fleece from the Island of the Cyclopes or Camp Half-Blood will be destroyed. But first, Percy will learn a stunning new secret about his family, one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon's son is an honor or simply a cruel joke.

*******

This book is a great sequel for The Lightning Thief. I had the urge to know what would be the next story was.

The Sea of Monsters contains improvements of the characters, which means Percy became more likeable and so as the others as well. Of course, Percy and Annabeth's relationship is starting to get interesting. The action and adventure, drama and the humor still has it.

Mr. Rick never fails from adding up some new and intriguing characters. One of them is this new found friend of Percy -- Tyson. I am not going to spoil who he was actually. But he had a great part of the story.

Although, this book is not the same as the first one. It does not have much excitement, in some parts of the story. I guess I expected too much because the first one is a bomb, KA-BOOM! Grover don't have much appearance, but I thought this is a price where you get to know well the other new ones. But plot of of the story makes the most out of it.

Well, this book has tons of funny and hilarious moments, dialogues et cetera. It actually leaves me laughing and laughing. There are thrilling twist and discoveries that you won't gonna miss.

I do recommend this book but I won't score it a high five. But you should read it especially the people who love the sequel of The Lightning Thief.
